SUMMARY:Elliott Reynolds (University of Birmingham) "Searching for New Physics using the Higgs Boson and Machine Learning"
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: \n \nThe Higgs boson is the only fundamental spin-0 particle in the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics\, associated with an ever-present field that is the source of mass and linked to electroweak symmetry breaking\, making it a particle like no other. Its mass and spin provide us with the strongest indication yet that something is amiss with the SM\, and offer a unique window to probe the SM and new physics in its decays. This talk covers a broad range of searches sensitive to new physics in the Higgs sector using the ATLAS detector at the CERN LHC\, with an emphasis on the versatile role of novel machine learning techniques. The related physics prospects of the high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC and the ATLAS detector are also discussed.\n\n──────────\nTroy Cortez is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://lbnl.zoom.us/j/97582336673 \nMeeting ID: 975 8233 6673\nOne tap mobile\n+16699006833\,\,97582336673# US (San Jose)\n+13462487799\,\,97582336673# US (Houston) \nDial by your location\n+1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose)\n+1 346 248 7799 US (Houston)\n+1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma)\n+1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago)\n+1 646 558 8656 US (New York)\n+1 301 715 8592 US (Washington D.C)\nMeeting ID: 975 8233 6673\nFind your local number: https://lbnl.zoom.us/u/arXhC3CAb \nJoin by SIP\n97582336673@zoomcrc.com \nJoin by H.323\n162.255.37.11 (US West)\n162.255.36.11 (US East)\n115.114.131.7 (India Mumbai)\n115.114.115.7 (India Hyderabad)\n213.19.144.110 (Amsterdam Netherlands)\n213.244.140.110 (Germany)\n103.122.166.55 (Australia)\n64.211.144.160 (Brazil)\n69.174.57.160 (Canada)\n207.226.132.110 (Japan)\nMeeting ID: 975 8233 6673 \n──────────
