Title: Recent Results and Status of the Neutrinoless Double-Beta Decay Experiment LEGEND
Abstract: The Large Enriched Germanium Experiment for Neutrinoless ββ Decay (LEGEND) is a phased international program designed to answer one of the highest-priority questions in fundamental physics — whether neutrinos are their own anti-particles. Its first phase, LEGEND-200, reuses the cryostat of a previous-generation experiment, GERDA, in Hall A of the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) underground laboratory in Italy to house up to 200 kg of 76Ge-enriched high-purity germanium (HPGe) detectors. In this talk, I will present the latest results from LEGEND-200’s search for the lepton-number-violating neutrinoless double-beta decay. I will also provide a synopsis of the planning of the second phase of the experiment, LEGEND-1000.
