SPEAKER: Richie Bonventre(LBNL)-TITLE: Status of the Mu2e experiment at Fermilab

March 9, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This is an In-Person [HYBRID] Event

Location: Sessler Conference Room – 50A-5-5132

SPEAKER: Seth R. Johnson (ORNL)

TITLE: Status of the Mu2e experiment at Fermilab

ABSTRACT: The Mu2e experiment, currently under construction at Fermilab, will search for the charged-lepton flavor violating (CLFV) neutrino-less conversion of a negative muon into an electron in the field of a nucleus. It aims to achieve a four-orders of magnitude improvement in sensitivity over previous experiments, allowing it to probe new physics at mass scales up to 10^4 TeV. In this talk I will present the current status of the experiment, improvements to the track reconstruction algorithm, and results from vertical slice tests of the straw tracker.
